Sarah Jessica Parker and Blythe Danner star in the world premiere of Amanda Peet’s play The Commons of Pensacola. MTC’s award-winning Artistic Director Lynne Meadow directs the production, Ms. Peet’s playwriting debut. Judith (Blythe Danner) has been divested of her assets and forced to leave her luxurious New York life after her husband’s Wall Street scam became headline news. When her daughter Becca (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Becca’s filmmaker boyfriend pay Judith a visit to the one bedroom condo Judith now occupies in Pensacola, Florida, everyone’s motives are called into question. How will past and present circumstances inform how this family moves into the future?
The Commons of Pensacola is an incisive and funny play about trying to love your family even when you hate what they’ve done. The production reunites two-time Emmy and four-time Golden Globe winner Parker (“Sex and the City,” Wonder of the World) and Tony and two-time Emmy winner Danner (Nice Work If You Can Get It, Meet the Parents). Parker and Danner first appeared together in MTC’s Sylvia by A.R. Gurney in 1995.

Amanda Peet
Amanda Peet (born January 11, 1972) is an American actress who has appeared in film, stage and television. After studying with Uta Hagen at Columbia University, Peet began her career in television commercials, and progressed to small roles on television, before making her film debut in 1995. Featured roles in films such as the 2000 comedy film The Whole Nine Yards brought her wider recognition.
She has appeared in a variety of films, including the 2001 comedy Saving Silverman, the 2003 romantic comedy Something’s Gotta Give, the 2003 psychological thriller film Identity, the 2005 action-thriller Syriana, the 2006 comedy-drama remake Griffin & Phoenix, the 2007 romantic comedy The Ex, the 2008 science fiction film The X-Files: I Want to Believe and the 2009 disaster adventure drama 2012. She has also appeared in the 1999 drama series Jack & Jill and the 2006 drama series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Peet recently made her playwriting debut with the new play The Commons of Pensacola starring Blythe Danner and Sarah Jessica Parker. Its final performance occurred February 9, 2014.
